Pamela,

Would love to virtually attend if it was online live!! With today's technology that is a real possibility. Has ORTS ever thought about that? No virtual drinks or snacks required.

Best regards

An interesting idea, MAC. This is a new venue for ORTS and I haven't been there yet so don't know if the technology is in place but I very much doubt it as the venue is at St James, which is a church. It would need specific infrastructure in place in the building where an associated room is only being hired by ORTS approximately once a month for an evening meeting.

Hi MAC

Your wish is our (Lesley and Diccon Pullen's - with particular thanks to Diccon-) command!!! Lesley Pullen's lecture for ORTS “Textiles of Sumatra: Traditional Cloth from the Island of Gold” on 19 March 2014 is now loaded up as a podcast on The Backdoor Broadcasting Company's website at:

http://backdoorbroadcasting.net/2014/03 ... d-of-gold/

The podcast comprises a sound track of Lesley's (very informative) lecture and the accompanying slides. I found that if I loaded the link twice and tiled the two web pages side by side I could then run the sound track and go through the slides at the same time.

There is also an earlier lecture by Lesley for the Royal Asiatic Society on "Naga Material Culture 1826-2008" on the same website at http://backdoorbroadcasting.net/2011/04 ... 1826-2008/

It is worth trawling through the Backdoor Broadcasting Company's website http://backdoorbroadcasting.net/ for other academic podcasts which may be of interest to members.
