For a thread with several references to books covering south Pacific tapa (bark cloth) see the thread http://www.tribaltextiles.info/communit ... .php?t=855. Many thanks to Jim Cotter and Udo Gangl.

Dear Udo,

I am very happy indeed if people will post to this thread details of any references on south pacific tapa that they are aware of. I am also pleased if other individual threads are started on this 'Books' forum to collate references on other specific topics.

I would be prepared, over time, to set up web pages for the topics and see about grouping them with the bibliography section of the main tti website (which is currently by country and based on books and articles in my own library - and somewhat out of date!)

As you will perhaps have gathered when I started a new thread to draw attention to and link to the current 'tapa' thread I felt that there were some very useful references which could slip from view and I did not want this to happen. One of the difficulties with the forum is that so much different information can get integrated into one thread and references are so often key to the general discussion.

I usually try and add in the ISBN number with the bibliography details - it can help with searching for copies of a particular volume. A bit of a pain as an additional detail but, perhaps, worthwhile.

Perhaps I should see if I can encourage Jim to write an introductory article about tapa for the 'Studies and Articles' section of the main tti website as I, for one, feel very ignorant about them. It would then be excellent to link in references to help people with further research. I see in Jim's profile that tapa are one of his special interests (mind you, he looks pretty busy!!)
