A recent purchase focusing on the Yi nationality in China:
People's Fine Arts Publishing House, 1992. "The Yi Nationality of Liangshan Mountain." ISBN 7102011431. This book is in both English and Chinese and is a phenomenal photoalbum of 236 pages documenting the daily life, festivals, costumes and ritual of the Yi in the Liangshan area - where most Yi are to be found - located in the Southwest portion of Sichuan Province. The photos cover the entire 1980's through to 1991 and formed part of a larger sociolinguistic and anthropological study undertaken on the Yi. An excellent photographic reference!

Thanks for the teaser Iain! Now, where can we get a copy of this fascinating book? I was just commenting to Pamela yesterday that the Yi seem to be so enigmatic and mysterious with little documentation about them. I, for one, would love to know more about them. Do you know any mail order sources for this book, or would you be willing to act as such?

Hi Susan
I am afraid that the individual where I purchased this book had only one copy... However, searching on http://www.bookfinder4u.com shows a number of copies available from diverse groups such as Alibris, Abebooks and Amazon. I also recall Steven Frost writing on the forum that he was now sourcing and selling books and, as he is located in China, he would possibly be able to provide a more competitive price.
Hope you enjoy the book soon!
Regards
Iain

Iain

When you get down to the detail each of the stores are actually offering the same one copy via Snow Crane Books!
