Can anyone recommend tribal textile shops in Hong Kong? I'll be there next month.

I am always disappointed when I visit HK at the lack of tribal textile shopping.

When I was there in August this year I confirmed that Mountain Crafts was still in existence and they have a few things but their stock seems to get less year by year. They are in Wo On Lane, Central. Go up D'Aguilar Street. With your back to Queens Road Central, Wo On is the last small street on the right opposite Lan Kwai Fong.

You might want to visit 'Cloth Haven' G/F #7 Upper Station Street, Central. tel: 2546 0378, fax: 2369 3484. (The station in this case is a former Police Station). See the website at Edith Cheung has a few tribal items, is an interesting person and may be able to give you some pointers. She is a member of the Textile Society of Hong Kong. Do telephone before visiting to make sure that the shop is open. I had quite a challenge finding it and made a note to myself that it is 'near 184 Hollywood Rd' which might help! There are also the antique shops in the Hollywood Rd area (quite near to Cloth Haven).

Good luck and do share any info if you are lucky!

best wishes,
