This compendium of the papers presented at the James H.W. Thompson Foundation-sponsored textile symposium in Bangkok in August 2005 has just arrived in the bookstores in Thailand. The secondary title of the symposium was "Myth, Status and the Supernatural" and the topics reflect this theme. Authors include many well-known names in the study of SE Asian textiles: Patricia Cheesman, Susan Conway, Barbara and David Fraser, Gillian Green, John Guy, Roy Hamilton, Michael Howard, Vibha Joshi, Leedom Lefferts, Robyn Maxwell, Linda McIntosh, Diana Myers, as well as more local contributors Thirabhand Chandrachareon, Piriya Krairiksh, and Suriya Smutkupt. As one might expect, the presentations ranged widely over the region and dealt with a variety of subjects from Bhutan to Vietnam.

I don't know if this is available on Amazon yet, but it could probably be ordered through the Jim Thompson Foundation http://www.seasiantextiles.com/jt_symposium/ or River Books, the publisher. ISBN is 978-974-9863-38-1. It's 216 pages with over 300 color illustrations. I don't know the price in $US, but in baht it was 1595.
