If anyone is in London between now and 17th March 2006 I can thoroughly recommend the exhibition of 'Egyptian Landscapes - 50 years of tapestry weaving at the Ramses Wissa Wasssef Art Centre, Cairo'.

Siriol and I met up and went to a special view, weaving demonstration and illustrated talk by Suzanne Wissa Wassef on Wednesday evening. The exhibition is in The Brunei Gallery at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, Thornhaugh Street, London WC1H 0XG. Mondays to Saturdays 10.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m., Admission free.

There are both large wook tapestries and smaller cotton tapestries made by two generations of weavers at the the Centre. They are pretty stunning. The colours are all naturally dyed.
