This seems an appropriate time to let everyone know that Jess Pourret's fine and large collection of Yao artifacts and textiles now has a permanent home in the local cultural museum in Avallon, France. Their website is: http://www.ville-avallon.fr/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=652&Itemid=9, and this: http://www.museeavallonnais.com/index.php/collection-yao-mien-et-mun and information about hours, dates, etc. are available there. My understanding from Jess is that the official opening is this month, tho the website says it began last July. It also says it is up until December 2012, but I think it may be permanently installed in its own designated galleries. Having seen only a small portion of his collection in Chiang Mai, I can say that this should be an extraordinary opportunity to view 'up close and personal' this extensive and exceptional collection.
