I have just received an email with the following exhibition information:

San Francisco CA: "PIÑA: The Indigenous Fabrics Role in Philippine History, Culture and Trade" an exhibit by the Philippine Folklife Museum in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General will be opened on Wednesday, 27 October 2010, 6pm at the Social Hall, Philippine Center Bldg, 447 Sutter St. 5th Floor San Francisco Ca 94108.

The exhibit will showcase piña items, some costumes of the Philippines focusing on the Visayan region, birthplace of the piña and other indigenous fabrics, such as jusi and hablon. Highlight of the exhibit is a piña terno worn by the Mrs. Aurora Quezon, wife of the Philippines' first president, Manuel L. Quezon.

Entrance is free and reception follows after the opening. For more detailed information, please call Ms. Lydia De La Cruz at (925)818 1333 or email us at ccpisfpcg@yahoo.com or call Ms. Lyn Sesante at (415) 433-6666 ext 313.

I understand that "the textile exhibits are in permanent glass cases in the Consulate's public meeting room set up for this exhibit, so they will remain on display indefinitely". I suggest that a telephone call or email to confirm that this is still the case before setting out to visit would be a good idea.
