Whilst researching, for threads in the general section of the forum, whether ikat was used by aboriginals in Taiwan I came across a couple of excellent articles on-line which have been published in the Textile Society of America Newsletters and which I think may be of interest to forum members.

The first, from the TSA Newsletter Winter 2009 is "The Woven Word: Three Sasigyo" by Kathleen F. Johnson and Tsai Yushan with translations by Kotoh. This analyses three beautiful gems of Burmese tablet weaving, the sazigyo, which are narrow bands used to wrap Buddhist scriptures. ... er2009news
Also see Kathleen's website for more detailed information.

Following this there was an article from the TSA Newsletter Spring 2007 "Miao Children's Dress" by Rachel Suntop. I immediately thought of Monique Derwig and her passion for children's clothing. ... ng2007news

There are a few excellent photos in the articles but I did not feel I should reproduce any here.
