While recently in Santa Fe I had the great pleasure of visiting the Museum of International Folk Art where the enlightening exhibition of Needles + Pins: Textiles and Tools is currently on display. It starts with fiber preparation, then goes to weaving, includes needle art, lace, nonwoven techniques, and printing and resist dyeing, showing examples of both tools and cloth along the way. As a collector of textile tools, as well as textiles, I was fascinated by the variety of both shown and by the far flung places from which they came, as well as the long history.

The exhibition will be up thru January 2009. The museum is located on Museum Hill in Santa Fe, NM, USA. See http://www.internationalfolkart.org/exhibitions/current.html for more information.
