There's a superb display of Qing Imperial costumes in the Forbidden City at the moment. The exhibit focusses on the adaptation of the traditional Manchurian costumes that occurred when the Manchurian Qing dynasty gained power in Beijing in the mid 17th century. About 100 robes plus bolts of cloth, hats, jewelry and so on.

The exhibit runs until mid November, and there is a decent (but not quite big enough) catalogue for sale for 76RMB at the museum shop.
