Hello,
As many of you may know already, on April 30th we lost Lang Dulay, who for decades had become the recognized face of the T'boli Dreamweavers of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines.
There are several news accounts online. Most estimate her age at 91. She passed away quietly in her home in the mountains surrounding her Lake Sebu homeland after having suffered a stroke earlier this year. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Known to her people as a tribal leader as well as master artist, she gained worldwide attention and praise after being awarded the "Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan" or National Living Treasure from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines in 1998. I would encourage everyone to learn more about Lang Dulay, the Tboli people and their stunning, unique textiles.
Lang Dulay will be missed by the world. Rest in Peace
