Thought I'd post up a couple of pictures of a Soe district ikat hinggi wrap that I aquired in the early 1990's in Kupang NTT. It measures 194 cm x 82 cm and in very good condition , using all handspun thread and natural dyes as far as I can see. Would welcome any comments regarding the motif & more accurate origin. Sorry about the dodgy quality of pictures...I'm a novice at this, and the camera's not that great either ! Thanks - Steven.

Steven, Here again the center seems to be hand spun and natural but the stripes are probably pre-dyed commercal thread. By the way, the word HINGGI is used for male textiles in Sumba but not used in Timor. This piece would probably be called a BETI FUTUS with futus meaning IKAT and beti meaning a man's cloth in the Dawan language.

Best regards
