Bonjour à tous

Recently found in an antique shop, here is a robe about which I am asking for origin.

The material is apprently linen lined with silk. Embroideries are made of cotton. Buttons are metallic.

The design of the embroidered parts displays some recongizible shapes of chickens. Other shapes are difficult to read. In french the embroidery technic is called "point passé plat"

The robe seems quite old.

I suspect a central europe origine, but it can come from any place between Rhin and china !

If some body can clear this mystery.

Joyeux noël à tous

I don't have too much time to go into any detail at the moment, but just to start things off, I have a very strong feeling that the above garment is probably Russian and part of a woman's folk costume. The red embroidery I am sure I've seen in publications on the costume of European Russia.
Books on Russian costume are, in my experience quite difficult to find but I refer you to my website which has details of some of the few I have stumbled across

I had a feeling that it could be Roumanian. But it certainly could be Russian.
